The Acolytes have been tasked with investigating the rumored activities of secretive smuggling empire "The Faceless Trade." Though they have no known cargo specialization (except, perhaps, the illicit and dangerous), they are credited with the influx of illegal relics and Xenotech from the mysterious Eldar in the sector, much of which have moved through the system that the Paradise World of Forraliss calls home.

In a month's time, the sub-sector's Governor will be hosting a lavish, decadent soiree in his private estate on the planet. Long-entrenched reconnaissance and intercepted transmissions reveal that numerous shipments of illegal cargo will be exchanging hands at the same time.

    Coincidence? Unlikely.

Inquisitor Vevrain has obtained two invitations for a Mr. and Mr. Forscythe; reclusive shipping magnates who nonetheless have a great reputation in the sector.  Whether these identities have been entirely fabricated by the Inquisition's impressive information network or were "borrowed" for the sake of the mission, no one can say.

Forraliss is a well loved vacation destination by many of the Imperium's elite and nobility. Massive Voidliner pleasure cruises ferry thousands to the planet daily; they themselves laden with all manner of delights that only hint at the temptations awaiting them upon planetfall. The Acolytes have been granted an entire suite to operate from in the month before the party-one master dwelling and a staff chambers.

The assignment is simple. Two of the team will attend the event under the guise of Forscythe while the remainder investigate and provide support from behind the scenes. They shall attempt to uncover exactly what is being traded, the seller, the buyer, and most importantly, the source of the product, which is to be cut of by whatever means necessary.

    Entry 1:

It has been decided that Silas and Jaspar, being the most socially acclimated members of the team, will play the part of Mr. and Mr. Forscythe; relationship to be determined. They will become practiced with rubbing elbows with the wealthy and powerful aboard the Voidliner in order to perfect their disguises when we make planetfall on Forraliss.

The rest of us will remain out of sight, posing as their retainer of staff permitted to accompany them. We shall conduct our investigations of the crew and their cargo in hopes of uncovering any potential suppliers or buyers of the suspected Xenotech.

Silas's family background has served him incredibly well thus far. He has distinguished himself as a man of refined taste to the Duke of Tertius Nine- Rufus Rufflebottom. He bears the Grand Maltese Starburst of the Golden Honor, bestowed upon him for quashing a young rebellion by eliminating their supply lines. A pompous, but good humored man, he enjoys laughter to a degree that would be fatal to most other men.

Jaspar has been keeping his eyes open for suspicious activity among the wealthy patrons Silas has associated with. Thus far, beyond demonstrating terrifying lung capacity surpassed only by large species of marine mammals, none has yet been discovered.

While his approach was somewhat...unorthodox, Silas has also managed to curry at least grudging acknowledgement from the highly decorated Mira Hess- an Imperial Lieutenant with an impressive record. Notably, she is one of the few members of the passengers who is not aboard as the result of any vast fortune. Silas will be attempting to strengthen their relationship at a later time. She may be one of the only honorable and trustworthy characters aboard this vessel.

[BRANDON'S YET UNNAMED CHARACTER] was at first content to play footman to Silas and Jaspar, but quickly became discomfited by the sustained gales of laughter and sought to join the remainder of the party.

Dr. Butz, Iris, and Scorpion have befriended the servant Jimmothee, who was born into indentured servitude aboard one of the Voidliner company's vessels. Familiar with both the inner workings of the ship and the less savory members of its crew, Jimmothee surrendered his access to the inner workings of the ship after being plied with alcohol and the promise of recreational substances, which Dr. Butz has proven incredibly proficient at synthesizing.

Before passing out, Jimmothee revealed a location near the ship's boilers where the staff has been known to congregate and indulge themselves in a somewhat more cruder fashion than their charges above deck. Varl, a frequenter of this hangout, is a penitent server spared the cruelty of a penal colony or execution. A rumored smuggler himself at one point, Iris and Scorpion's criminal backgrounds may allow them to locate and befriend this individual in order to gain his insight into the mission at hand.

Silas was very happy to know that he had a date for tomorrow with the Lieutenant Colonel. It was his intent to hear war stories and see how recently the woman had been in the know about xeno comings and goings. As he sipped his drink and laughed with Rufus and friends, he wondered just how direct he would be. Would he ask, with a straight face, 'do you know if there's any smuggling going on?' 'Where do you think would be the best place on -this- ship to hide xenotech?'.

Actually that second one didn't sound half bad. He'd have to ask his teammates.

"Alright," Iris opened, cracking her knuckles and looking over at Scorpion.

"How exactly do we want to play this? Assuming that this guy is the criminal we've heard he is, we don't know how long he's been at it. Guy could be a complete scrub who got caught before he could make it out of the kiddie pool. I'm going to be relying on your piracy experience to help flesh him out, so try not to get into a dick-measuring contest with him right off the bat."

"And Doc? You were really handy back there with all that chymical shit. If we could encourage (by which I mean bribe) a few of the crew members to help us procure supplies, I think we could have enough stuff to set up a fully operational drug lab in the crew quarters of our suite. It would be a great way to curry favor aboard the ship while we're here."
